Apple to ban film-based screen protectors from company stores
In usual Apple fashion, the company is remaining mum on the motives behind its decision.
I had the original iPhone for about 7 months before putting on a screen protector. Within a month, the 3rd line of touch-sensitivity, right above the slide to unlock line, experienced what is known as a “dead strip”. The whole line, approximately 1/2” tall from from left to right was no longer touch-sensitive. I had to get my iPhone replaced. I never had any evidence to support my assumption that the screen protector was somehow to blame but I’ve never put on another one since.
