App Store Downloads Top Three Billion

“Three billion applications downloaded in less than 18 months—this is like nothing we’ve ever seen before,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “The revolutionary App Store offers iPhone and iPod touch users an experience unlike anything else available on other mobile devices, and we see no signs of the competition catching up anytime soon.”

I don’t see anything catching up anytime soon either. The Nexus One looks nice, but it’s still plagued by the same problems I had with the Droid. And Nokia thinks they’ll be “at par with Apple smartphones” by 2011. They’re going after what Apple is doing now even though no one knows what they’ll be doing this year, let alone 2011.
