There’s a little devil in me that hopes this happens and that Verizon’s network buckles under the strain.

This is really something. Videos, photo features, interactive ads… Publishers should be at Steve Jobs’ door thanking him for sparing them the gradual death of printed periodicals.
I just picked this up myself and it feels like the future of periodicals. I imagine it’ll get even more interactive over time. I am very much looking forward to subscribing to Wired again without...

Marco.org: A Verizon reality check →
It’s easy to glorify Verizon as an iPhone owner, because AT&T is so awful. But Verizon sucks, too — just in different ways, for the most part.
A timely reminder. I just switched to Verizon because I couldn’t handle another dropped call and in 3 days I’ve been lied to, charged for insurance I didn’t ask for, and had my 3G signal disappear when I’m indoors. Not...

Interesting take.
In the novel, 1984, Big Brother knows everything about you. He knows everything you do, everything you like and dislike, everything you want, everything you’re going to want. He knows your fears and secrets. Big Brother is omnipresent, he is everywhere.

But aren’t they doing exactly the same thing this year? A much-hyped phone in the early part of the year doesn’t go on sale until June. The tech community cools on the idea a little and then the launch, where hardcore fans will line up to get their hands on it. And then, just a couple of weeks later, Apple comes out with the new iPhone. The hot new phone for Sprint fizzles into...
MHz Myth Redux
I really wish people could just say that they don’t want an iPad because they hate Apple. That’s really all it boils down to. And when an Android tablet inevitably ships, people will say it’s better because it has a faster CPU and it runs Flash. I’d love one of these spec whores to explain to me why that makes a product better.

It's So Obvious
The tech community of web sites is filled with smart people. Smart people who know more than you know. They’re so sure they know more than you know that they’ll write long essays in the comments to clearly articulate to you why their point of view is the logical point of view. It’s so obvious, why can’t you see it? But then another smart person has a different point of view...
If Facebook Were Human
Me: “Hey F.B., how’s it going today?”
FB: “Oh you know, same old, same old. Oh! Did you hear? Your friend, Amanda, just had the best burrito ever at Jack-N-Grille.”
Me: “Funny.”
FB: “So would it be fair to say you like that?”
Me: “Yeah, I like that. She’s funny.”
FB: “Great! So here’s where fans of...

If true, this is effing genius. Publicly tear down a plug-in platform and get people to see how foolish it is to rely on a plug-in. Then unleash a solution that runs on modern browsers without any plug-in. iPad at the ready.
