You know what I love? Meaningful error messages.
Thanks for bringing that to my attention, Oracle. I’ll be sure to correct the problem as soon as I get done with my computer science degree.
I get that “what the hell can I do about it?” feeling when I view this presentation. But I have to remember that I can’t change everyone else, I can only do what I can do. And I’m the one I have to look at in the mirror every morning.

The easy to exploit bugs I know about happen to live in the code that Safari has but Mobile Safari doesn’t,” mostly due to Mobile Safari’s lack of support for Java, Flash, and other third-party plugins.
Adobe? Your response?
As if I weren’t excited enough about the iPad. You can see the finished product on the Engadget story.
Apple to ban film-based screen protectors from... →
In usual Apple fashion, the company is remaining mum on the motives behind its decision.
I had the original iPhone for about 7 months before putting on a screen protector. Within a month, the 3rd line of touch-sensitivity, right above the slide to unlock line, experienced what is known as a “dead strip”. The whole line, approximately 1/2” tall from from left to right was no...

No one has been more outspoken about AT&T’s performance than Gruber. I was wondering if he’d give ‘em credit when it went right. Good show.

Ten Percent of Microsoft Employees Use an iPhone →
It’s a schadenfreude-alicious nugget of information, sure. But it’s a telling indication of just how strong the iPhone is versus Windows Mobile.
Hopefully Microsoft is smart enough to follow Apple and Google’s lead and give their new phone to all of their employees. That would solve this silly problem pretty quickly, plus add a strong and immediate user base.

Local Cloud
Dropbox has become my lifeline. I use it for almost everything I do now including my current projects, all of my documents and notes, and large-file sharing. The difference between Dropbox and other cloud-based services is that I have a local copy on each machine using Dropbox. So my documents are always in sync and up to date both locally and on the cloud. I then backup my local copy using Time...

NYT: Steve Jobs feels Google betrayed Apple →
The report alleged that Google founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page considered Jobs a mentor, and were regular visitors to the company’s Cupertino, Calif., campus.
It seems clear to me that if Steve Jobs is really acting this way, this is the reason. Because he’s felt this dagger before.

Unfortunately for the average person, the file system is so complex that everything outside of the desktop and the documents folder appears to be a vast labyrinth which most likely hides booby traps and minotaurs.
That’s because it does hide booby traps and minotaurs.

Where Do You Get Your News: Online or in Print? →
I suspected people got their news online more than other sources but I didn’t think the results would be this extreme. Granted, Lifehacker readers might be a little more forward-thinking but, still, this is just bad news for old media.

This Apple-HTC Patent Thing →
Android is a far better platform today than it would have been if Apple had never created the iPhone. That, in some sense, is not fair.
To be upfront and very clear, I completely disagree with Apple’s decision to sue HTC. However, it is impossible to argue that Apple completely changed the face of mobile devices the day they introduced the iPhone. There are the phones that existed before...
